Thousands United for Sustainability: Poland’s Record-Breaking Green Initiative

On April 23, 2025, Gliwice became the capital of ecological education. Thousands of students from all over Poland jointly gained knowledge about proper waste segregation, circular economy and ecological habits. This event not only crowned the first edition of the National Program addressed to schools and broke the official Polish Record, but above all inspired the youngest to everyday actions for the planet.

The lesson, under the Honorary Patronage of the Minister of Education, the Ministry of Climate and Environment and the Ombudsman for Children, was divided into two parts. First, the students learned a song about proper waste segregation and took part in theoretical classes, which were enriched with a multimedia presentation and a program cartoon about their disposal and recycling. Then, an interactive educational path with five tasks awaited them, during which they tested their knowledge in practice.

Ecological education is the key to raising a conscious, responsible generation. It is our investment in the future, which is why our goal was to create an event in which we would not only break the record, but above all inspire children to everyday, ecological actions – and we succeeded. We showed that learning about the environment can be interesting, engaging and full of fun.

We hope that the knowledge we have instilled in students will stay with them for a long time. It is also support for teachers to conduct inspiring lessons based on tools, ideas and teaching materials thanks to which education about waste will become simpler and more creative.

After the lesson, the youngest were waiting for commemorative diplomas and group photos. So that the learning did not end at the event, the students also received educational materials - a board game "On the Trail of Waste", sticker books, bookmarks with a waste segregation system, as well as lesson plans that will accompany them in continuing to acquire knowledge about waste segregation long after leaving PreZero Arena Gliwice.

The Largest Ecology Lesson showed that learning about environmental protection does not have to be boring, and every small step towards ecology is a big step for our planet

Considering the huge interest of schools in participating in the program, the start of the next edition of the "Waste Hunters Academy" program is planned for September 2025.
